About
Documents done properly, without the trip.
A Notary Public and Commissioner of Oaths who comes to you, across Durham Region and the Greater Toronto Area. Licensed by the Law Society of Ontario, and priced in the open.
GetNotarizedNow is the notary and commissioning practice of Wallace Legal Services Professional Corporation. We help individuals, families and businesses across Durham Region and the Greater Toronto Area get documents sworn, witnessed, certified and sealed.
Legal paperwork has a way of arriving at the worst possible moment. A lender needs a document sealed before Friday. A school needs a consent letter before a flight. A parent in hospital needs an affidavit witnessed and cannot get to an office. Our job is to make that part simple, and to come to you when getting to us is the hard part.
What we are, in plain terms
There are two separate authorities involved, and most people meet them mixed together.
A Commissioner of Oaths administers oaths, affirmations and statutory declarations, and witnesses sworn affidavits, for use within Ontario. That authority comes from the Commissioners for Taking Affidavits Act.
A Notary Public can do all of that, and can also certify true copies of original documents and apply an official notarial seal that is recognised outside Ontario, for foreign courts, embassies, immigration authorities and cross-border business. That authority comes from the Notaries Act.
Latoya Wallace holds both. In short: a Notary Public can do everything a Commissioner can do, plus certify true copies and authenticate documents for use outside Ontario. If you are not sure which one your document needs, that is exactly what a fifteen-minute consultation is for, and it is free.
How we work
We come to you. Homes, offices, hospitals and care facilities, across Durham Region, Toronto, Peel, York and Halton. Mobile appointments are $50 inside the GTA, plus $30 beyond the Toronto boundary.
Evenings and after hours. Appointments after 8pm and before 8am carry a $50 after-hours fee. Very few notaries publish an after-hours service at all, let alone a price for it.
You will always know the price first. Fees are published on this website, they are shown before HST, and each additional document in the same appointment is $15. If your situation is unusual, we will tell you what it costs before we start, not after.
What we do not do. We notarize, commission and certify documents. We do not draft your documents and we do not advise you on what they should say. Where you need legal advice, you need a lawyer, and we will tell you so rather than guess.
The two statutes behind the work: the Commissioners for Taking Affidavits Act, which governs commissioning, and the Notaries Act, which governs notarial acts and the seal.
